St. Luke’s Medical Center Named One of 2017’s Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals

St. Luke’s Medical Center in Crosby, ND was recently named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) out of 1,332 in the United States by iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

The Top 20 Critical Access Hospital “winners” are those hospitals who have achieved success in the overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indices of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, costs, charges and financial stability. This group was selected from iVantage’s Top 100 CAH list, released earlier this year.

St. Luke’s Medical Center scored in the top 20 of Critical Access Hospitals on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength INDEX®. The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive rating of rural providers. It provides the data foundation for the annual Rural Relevance Study and its results are the basis for many of rural healthcare’s most prominent awards, advocacy efforts and legislative initiatives. The list of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals and more information about the study can be found at

“I have always thought it would be interesting working in a hospital. I’ve always had a desire to help people, however I can. I feel working in medical records gives me that opportunity to contribute in making a difference. The workflow process runs a little smoother in keeping track of patient’s charts and scanning in documentations into their electronic health record (EHR) and making sure orders are accounted for and reports are signed off by providers in a timely manner. The staff at St. Luke’s make it a great working environment to achieve the end result on everyday matters.”
